Huddersfield Leisure Centre opened to the public in May 2015 and since then has welcomed overĀ half a million visitors.

Celebrating its first birthday in May, Huddersfield Leisure Centre is one of the largest leisure facilities in West Yorkshire.
Since it opened, the centre has welcomed more than half a million visitors and has had over 4,000 new members sign up.
Operated by Kirklees Active Leisure (KAL), the Ā£36m facility at Springwood replaced the old centre in Southgate. ā€œThe opening of the centre was a momentous day for KAL and we are thoroughly enjoying welcoming people from all areas of the community into the centre and encouraging them to be more active more often,ā€ comments general manager Hazel Francis.
ā€œSince the opening weā€™re pleased to say the reaction has been positive and the volume of comments has been overwhelming.ā€
Water leisure facilities include a 25m pool, an eight lane competition pool, a multiactivity teaching pool with a full moveable floor system, a beach area leisure pool with multiple interactive water features and river ride, a spa pool, a childrenā€™s pool with themed animal features, a GRP flume and an exciting ā€˜Sidewinderā€™ ride.
The centre also has two sports halls, a climbing wall, squash courts, martial arts facilities, a large fitness suite, a cafĆ© and a childrenā€™s area. Hazel adds: ā€œOur splash park with a multiple water features is what makes the centre really unique and is a key attraction for many of our visitors.
