First opened by members of the TV Gladiators in 1997, the pool at Ribby Hall Village holiday park, Wrea Green, Lancashire, is used by members and visitors alike. With a staff team of 25, the annual operation bather load is somewhere between 280,000 and 300,000. The pool underwent a major upgrade as part of a comprehensive refurbishment by World Leisure in 2017. The new pool features new slides including a 48m interactive play slide. World Leisure also refurbished the splash pool and added an interactive aqua deck play structure, with tipping buckets and integral slides. A themed GRP toddlers’ pool links into the splash pool via a slide or steps. World Leisure also installed a new sauna, steam room and feature showers, with all new filtration and controls.
The 48m interactive play slide allows members and guests to climb a tower to the top of the slide, which then takes them out of the building and back inside again. The complex also has the benefit of a lap pool which allows site to run a large swim school during quieter periods. Boasting adjoining state-of-the-art spa and sauna facilities, the venue has always been a popular water fun venue, offering water slides and water play features alongside regular swim facilities.
