Lido lovers looking for an original and timeless Christmas present need look no further than Saltdean Lido’s latest fundraising initiative.

The popular Brighton and Hove-based lido launched the ‘Name on a Brick’ fundraiser to raise money for new electricity sub-station, so that renovations at the lido can continue.

People are invited to put their name and a message on a brick in a wall that will be built alongside the main pool. The wall can accommodate just 2,500 bricks and all the money raised from the initiative will fund a new – and essential – £70,000 electricity substation to power the lido site.

Rebecca Crook, chair of Saltdean Lido CIC, said: “Work on the site has been suspended since the electricity issue arose earlier in the summer. We have exhausted all other options and are now asking our supporters to help us and they can be assured that their contribution will make a difference. A brick is for life not just for Christmas!”

Saltdean Lido CIC hopes to raise the £70,000 by the middle of December so that work can re-start before winter closes in.
