After six years of planning, the Ramside Hall Hotel spa in County Durham welcomed its first guests in August.
Along with its five pools – including a 25 metre swimming pool, outdoor vitality pool, hydrotherapy pool and infinity pool – the spa also has a thermal suite offering a range of facilities and a specialised Sleep Sanctuary retreat.
The thermal suite includes an herbal sauna, Himalayan Salt Steam, Aroma Steam, Tepidarium and a sunken amphitheatre sauna, with the spa also home to a state-of-the-art gym which will offer a programme of more than 40 classes every week.
Padgett White Architects were the lead architects on the £8 million project. Walter Thompson acted as the main contractor on the scheme, alongside engineers BDN and Avoca Consulting and interior designers Space ID. Penguin Pools were responsible for the design of the pools.
