Oldham Active has proudly launched its brand new £15 million flagship leisure centre, as part of a long term plan to put Oldham on the sporting map.

Replacing an older facility on Lord Street the new Oldham Leisure Centre on Middleton Road includes a 25-metre, eight-lane swimming pool of county-level standard, a separate learner pool, a 250 spectator seating gallery to the main pool and 150 competitor seats at the poolside, as well as a new changing village.

All work was carried out to specifications aimed at attracting some major county competitions to the venue. FT Leisure was responsible for the water treatment and filtration work for the two pools and worked alongside the main contractor, Willmott Dixon, GT Architects and structural engineers, Ramboll.

Other facilities at the new centre include an eight-court sports hall, an 80-station fitness studio and four-rink indoor bowls hall. It also boasts a sauna and steam room, a spinning studio and a cafeteria.
