OLYMPIC LEGACY pic 2Following the 2012 London Olympics, Sport England were gifted one of the training pools from the Games to issue the major mechanical parts to a venue that satisfied their needs requirement.
The Scarborough Leisure Centre met those needs and were gifted a pool shell, diving head wall, filter vessels, pumps, heating, ultraviolet disinfection and chemical dosing equipment to make up a 25m swimming pool. Barr and Wray were contracted to supply and install the equipment from Sport England as well as the remaining pipework and equipment.
B+W provided a one year warranty to give client assurance the equipment will be fully operational.
As part of the brief, B+W were also responsible for the supply and install of a learner pool and the associated filtration system.
All the pools were designed and installed to meet and exceed the requirements set out by the Pool Water Treatment Advisory Group.
Barr + Wray were able to install the full installation within the specified programme set out by the principal contractor, Wilmott Dixon, with B + W responsible for the design, supply and installation of both the main and learner pool filtration and water treatment systems.
The spectacular new facility comprises of an eight lane 25-metre swimming pool, 17m x 7m learner pool, fitness centre and an allweather football pitch which is home to the town’s football team, Scarborough Athletic Football Club.
