Britain Goes Hot Tub Crazy

Since the programme aired, the Hot Tub Superstore has recorded a 1700 per cent increase in visits to its website.

The hot tub industry was inundated with press coverage last month, following the screening of the hotly anticipated ITV documentary Hot Tub Britain. Watched by 1.82 million people, the 60 minute programme was aired on September 9, delved into the inner workings of the UK’s bigger hot tub retailer – The Hot Tub Superstore in Blackpool, and captured the day-to-day running of the business, as the team works hard to keep up with demand. We also heard from some of the superstore’s customers about why they love their spas and what they get up to in them. “We are over the moon with the programme and the response to it,” reveals Ross Phillipson, sales director at The Hot Tub Superstore. “In fact we’re hoping that we may even get our own series out of it.”

Produced by Shiver, the factual division of ITV Studios UK, the programme was originally intended as a documentary, but during filming the angle slowly evolved into the reality TV style show, with a strong focus on the relationships within the family business. Ross continues: “Being part of the show was a fantastic experience for the whole team and we were excited to bring hot tubs to the nation and to illustrate what a great demand there already is. We have been overwhelmed with messages of support and record breaking sales numbers,” “We have also seen an increase of traffic to our website of 1700 per cent on the day of transmission alone and continue to with our mission of becoming a household name.” According to Ross, business is booming and the company is selling around 40 hot tubs a week. “Over the past two years our sales figures have gone through the roof – more and more people seem want one every year.

By making hot tubs straightforward to buy, and affordable with our free financing package, we’ve made them much more accessible for the average person.” He adds that the company was keen to represent the hot tub sector in the best light possible in the programme: “For us, it’s important to uphold a good reputation among our existing and prospective customers, and we hope that the programme has in turn been beneficial to the industry as a whole.”
