Iain Crighton, the chairman and owner of Peterborough-basedĀ Crightons Hydropool, was honoured with carrying the torch for a leg of the 2012 London Olympics.
Nominated by Peterborough Ā Council, it was Iainās work Ā raising thousands of pounds to help youngsters achieve their sporting dreams that brought him to their Ā attention. Over the last few years Iain has helped raise over Ā£100,000 and supported over 30 local youngsters each year with a grant.
Iain comments: āMy 300 metres leg of the relay passed in a flash, not because of my speed but the whole occasion was overwhelming with 30,000 peopleĀ cheering and they all seemed to want a photo!
āIāll keep the torch at the showroom for the next few months so people can see it and have their picture taken with it!ā
Iain claimed the worst thing about being an Olympic Torch bearer was being sworn to secrecy for six months before the event and the best thing ā everything!
