This issue’s featured swim spa case study shines a spotlight on a project for a family with three children, one of which needs regular hydrotherapy. Delivering a one stop shop solution from design, installation through to lighting and planting, the Hydropool London Essex team transformed an unusable part of the garden to incorporate the swim spa installation. The Essex team delivered a quality of the overall design from an aesthetic and ergonomic perspective. Design and installation took place within an area of the garden that was previously an unusable by virtue of 2m high bank of soil and bushes.
The London Essex team excavated the area removing tonnes of soil off site, built foundations and retaining walls to accommodate a partly sunk swim spa. They then then built a blockwork rendered planter at the front incorporating Millboard decking and steps. Next they added a Renson Building over firepit and seating area. Planting and lighting completed the swim spa area. As a finishing touch, the London Essex team installed a raised artificial grass area for the children to play, as previously the area was subjected to constant flooding.
