A hot tub installation for a youngster with cerebral palsy was the stand out project at this year’s BISHTA awards ceremony. Dayton Smith’s parents Jamie and Elaine were advised that a hot tub would benefit their son and, after fundraising, they ordered one from Leicester-based Hot Tub Suppliers. Dayton uses his new hot tub three to four times per week and the benefits have been fantastic, as Jamie explains: “We got told Dayton would never sit or walk, but since using the hot tub Dayton has gained more control of his head and gained better posture. “He can sit for a few seconds unaided and can walk in a special walking frame, all achieved from just six months using the hot tub”.
The project was the winner of this year’s Hot Tub Changes Lives category at the British Pool & Hot Tub Awards held during SPATEX at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry. The awards recognise the achievements of BISHTA and SPATA members by showcasing the best examples of design, construction, installation and innovation. Durham-based North Spas celebrated a successful evening after picking up two Gold and two Silver BISHTA awards. The team won Gold in the Residential Hot Tubs £7,000 – £14,000 category and the Residential Hot Tubs £14,000 and Over category and two Silver awards in the Hot Tubs in a Holiday Setting and Best Use of Digital Media categories respectively.
Not to be outshone, Cannings H20 came away with three awards, including joint Gold in the Residential Hot Tubs Below £7,000 category with Castle Hot Tubs and Gold and joint Bronze in the Hot Tubs in a Holiday Setting category. Meanwhile Hot Tub Suppliers of Leicestershire and Hydropool Devon both came away with two BISHTA Gold awards each. Gold in the Swim or Exercise Spa Award went to Hydropool Devon, followed by Falcon Pools Silver and A5 Spas in Bronze position. Hydropool Devon also won Gold in the Showroom of the Year category, narrowly beating A5 Spas and Euphoria Lifestyle who took home Silver and Bronze respectively. Other stand-out categories included Hot Tub Happiness, which was won by Hot Tub Suppliers and the Best Use of Digital Media category, in which Euphoria Lifestyle took the top spot.
