A picture special from the SPATEX pool and spa show…
The organisers of SPATEX, the UK’s exclusive pool and spa trade show, are already looking ahead to its 25th milestone event to be held in 2021. The team will return to the Ricoh Arena in Coventry to celebrate its silver anniversary from Tuesday to Thursday February 2 – 4. “We are rightfully proud to have represented the Industry for 25 years and aim to make the 2021 edition an international celebration for everyone connected with water leisure in its widest context,” says Michele Bridle, the organiser on behalf of the British and Swimming Pool Federation that also runs the trade associations SPATA and BISHTA. “It is early days yet but suffice to say we are planning a bumper show with lots of special events that will appeal to the global ‘wet leisure’ family.” In total, 110 companies participated in this year’s event, held at the end of January. The organisers say the event attracted 1,431 confirmed unique visitors over the three days with the middle day, the busiest at 555 trade and 105 non-trade visitors and the third day the quietest, with 390 visitors overall. Official figures put the attendance at the double seminar and workshop programme hosted by industry associations ISPE, STA and PWTAG at 567. “Quality over quantity every time for us and SPATEX 2020 didn’t disappoint on any front,” commented Mark Osman, of Heatstar, the environmental control specialists that celebrated its 40 year business anniversary at the event.

Mark added: “There seemed to be less end user customers which allowed the team to interact with our core customers. We use SPATEX to showcase our products and services and, as hoped, everything was very well received.” This year’s SPATEX launched a ‘Go Green’ initiative with the aim of encouraging and promoting a more eco-friendly industry and this, of course, will continue and be expanded on in future shows. Michele comments: “It was great that so many exhibitors and visitors embraced the concept and heartening to see the Ricoh’s Ericsson Hall awash with so many amazing energy saving products.
“WE HAD A STAND-OUT SHOW WITH A STEADY FOOTFALL THROUGHOUT THE THREE DAYS. ” – Chris Green, Certikin
“Thanks too to the exhibitors who gave their voice to the chorus of praises that SPATEX 2020 received.” Gil Gingell of Darlly Europe was among the grateful: ”We couldn’t have chosen a better place to celebrate Darlly’s tenth anniversary than the industry’s annual show. “The SPATEX networking was a fitting place to cut the cake and share in our celebration with the rest of the industry. “Our stand was busy, particularly on the Wednesday, and we had visitors from as far away as Iceland.” SPATEX launched the first month of direct industry sales for Rigo Spas. “We came to SPATEX with zero expectations and are delighted with the response regarding the quality of our products,” reveals Rigo’s Rico Pegasiou. “We received excellent attention from a large number of trade clients we will take away some very strong leads for turnkey solutions. I am positive we will be back!” SPATEX stalwarts, Certikin, once again dominated the exhibition floor with their huge display invariably packed with visitors throughout the event. Certikin’s Chris Green commented: “We had a stand-out show with a steady footfall throughout the three days. “We look forward to returning in 2021 for another vibrant show and to celebrate SPATEX’s 25th edition.”
