British holiday operator Butlin’s has opened its much anticipated £40million seaside-inspired swimming pool Splash at its Bognor Regis resort.
Since construction began in 2017, an estimated 1,250 people have worked on the site and 55 new staff have been welcomed across various departments, reinforcing Butlin’s efforts to enhance the local economy.
Jon Hendry-Pickup, Butlin’s Managing Director said: “The pool has already thousands of our guests have been able to combine fun, thrills, waves and flumes.
“Feedback so far has been glowing and justifies the time spent listening to our guests so that we delivered what they want and need,” he added.

“Our aim was to create an experience that takes our Bognor resort to a whole new level and ensures we continue to be at the forefront of British family breaks. We believe we’ve done exactly that.”
The new pool opening capitalises on the rising trend of Brits opting to holiday in the UK, with Butlin’s having seen a 4% increase in bookings so far compared to the same period in 2018. Families looking for a summer staycation can now get that seaside feeling without having to worry about the unpredictable British weather – with capacity for almost 1,000 people, use of the pool is included for every guest in the price of a break and even the outdoor rapids are warm enough to enjoy all year round.
After being filled with 600,000 litres of water and decorated with over two million tiles, the 6,300 square metre pool has now seen its first swimmers try the finished complex. Key attractions include:
• The world’s first Helter Skelter water ride, standing at an impressive 7.4 metres tall (almost as high as two double decker buses)
• Colourful stick-of-rock slides, the star of a total of seven different slide types. If you added all the sides in the pool together it would make a total length of 478m• Seaside Garden rapids, themed with colourful flowers and almost 100m in length
• A Wave Pool, which provides an exhilarating experience for the whole family
• A vast 900 square metre changing village, complete with state-of-theart underfloor heating and a range of bespoke changing rooms for smaller and larger families, as a result of research carried out with Mumsnet, the well-known online parenting community Part of Bourne Leisure Ltd which also owns Warner Leisure Hotels and Haven Holidays, Butlin’s has three beachside resorts, Bognor Regis (West Sussex), Minehead (Somerset) and Skegness (Lincolnshire) and welcomes around 1.5m guests per year.
