Diabetes UK’s annual Swim22 fundraising challenge is on course to be the most successful to date this year, with an increase in participation of more than 22 per cent. So far, almost 2,000 people have signed up for the challenge, where participants must swim 22 miles – the width of the Channel – in their local pool and at their own pace, between February 22 and May 22.
All money raised from the challenge will fund Diabetes UK’s research and support for people with the condition. Seven-times Paralympic gold medal-winning swimmer and supporter of the Swim22 campaign Sascha Kindred CBE said: “One of the great things about Swim 22 is that you don’t need to be a champion swimmer to take part. “Swimming 22 miles in three months will give you a great sense of personal achievement, and any money you raise will boost Diabetes UK’s vital research, campaigning, education and support.”
