SOME 120 VIP GUESTS from the international pool trade were given a tour of the newly unveiled Dryden Aqua facility in Switzerland.

Dryden Aqua invited some 120 pool customers for the official launch of its new factory in Büsserach, Switzerland, recently. Dryden Aqua is one of the largest manufacturer of glass filtration media. As marine biologists, they have a unique knowledge combination and detailed understanding of the biological as well as the physiochemical reactions in water. This has enabled the team, founded by Dr Howard Dryden, to develop and manufacture a highly innovative range of products such as the Activated Filter Media AFM® for the drinking and waste water industry, for aquaria and aquatic life support systems as well as for swimming pools worldwide.

MULTI -MILLION
Managing Director, for Europe, Russia and Africa, Dominik Graf welcomed guests to the Swiss factory launch, giving a brief company history and revealed some inside information on the company’s sales growth which involves the production of 20m tons of AFM representing £20m in annual sales. AFM® Activated Filter Media is a direct replacement for sand, doubling the performance of sand filters without the need of additional investments in infrastructure. AFM® resists biofouling, biocoagulation and transient wormhole channelling of unfiltered water and outlasts all other filter media. Available in the UK, exclusively through the PPG group, Dryden DAISY® is the integrated swimming pool water treatment system that prevents the growth of bacteria and pathogens and minimises the need for chlorine and other disinfectants. VIP members of the pool trade have been taken not just to Switzerland but also to the company’s Edinburgh base and have received a rapturous response.

Ian Storr, Managing Director of the multi award-winning Falcon Pools commented: “A fantastic day, I have never enjoyed a seminar so much and it has made me really think about what we do going forward. Richard Bishop, Managing Director of Aqua Thermae agreed: We heard an impressively, informative and professional presentation. It was well worth the effort and we are convinced this is the way forward for filtration on our pool systems. John Cheek of Hydrospec added to the endorsements: “What I was most impressed with was the technical knowledge and research behind a product which may cost more initially but will ultimately be the better value — not forgetting the add-on ecological benefits.”
