Tony Line, managing director of one of the UK’s leading swimming pool construction teams, the London Swimming Pool Company, turned around some early health worries to lose weight and improve his personal fitness in 2013.
London Swimming Pool Company also shaped up with a fourth consecutive year of growth and one of the best years for his business.
“My stand out moments for 2013 are knowing that both LSPC servicing and contracting are very successful and run by a brilliant team of dedicated, intelligent and knowledgeable people,” says Tony who stresses that LSPC don’t rely on New Year Resolutions but instead make a business plan with targets that are continually exceeded.
“Any company that does not have a plan and monthly management accounts is going nowhere,” says Tony. “We need to have a single-minded focus on the end goal.”
Tony believes energy costs will have a negative impact on the pool construction sector and urges companies to take the right advice. “There are so many companies in our sector that need help to run their business and make money,” he says.
“Business mentoring would help a great deal but it means taking a big, and sometimes, expensive leap forward. If you decide to make that leap, tread carefully as there are many who profess to be good at business mentoring who haven’t got a clue,” adds Tony.
“The right mentor will push your business forward. The wrong one will be a very costly mistake.”
