Greenvale Leisure Centre in Northern Ireland has become the first in the UK to receive the prestigious Poolmark award.

Operated by Pulse on behalf of Mid Ulster District Council, the leisure centre was presented with the Pool Water Treatment Advisory Group (PWTAG) Poolmark award, which recognises water safety and cleanliness.

The Poolmark certification is an assurance to operators and to the public that the pool meets essential healthy pool operational standards and signifies that the pool technical operation complies with the PWTAG Code of Practice. To meet the required conditions, Greenvale Leisure Centre had to show that they use recommended practices for pool water treatment, and that they employ appropriately trained and qualified staff. Working with pool standards and training consultants, BRIO Group, Greenvale achieved the highest standards in the Poolmark award.

“We’re delighted to be achieve this recognition, which clearly demonstrates our continued commitment to pool quality standards,” says operation director, Robert Buckley.

“Providing a healthy experience for swimmers and assuring the public that the facilities at Greenvale Leisure Centre are of the highest quality is extremely important to us.”
