Since the Seventies, Guncast Pools has evolved into one of the finest swimming pool design and build teams – not just in the UK but around the world.
A second generation company that has spread its wings technically and geographically, this year has seen the premier league pool team add another dimension to its top-end builds with the new Guncast Spiral Lift – its unique moving floor system suitable for both commercial and high end residential projects.
It is no accident that the move coincides with the opening of Guncast’s latest overseas office in New York, adding to its long established French base; all underpinning the global ambitions of this market-leading team. First created in the late sixties for the theatrical sector, Guncast has been working for more than two years with its Canadian-based moving floor manufacturers to fine-tune the Spiral Lift system so that it will be perfect for the water leisure markets.
Guncast launched the product in January and has already sold five in the UK, one in Jersey with pending orders in Britain and France. The Guncast Spiral Lift is ideal for hotels, holiday parks, health clubs and all manner of commercial venues because they offer premium flexibility on space. Suitable for new builds and retrofits, the Guncast Spiral Lift offers an added dimension to higher end residential projects particularly luxury apartments and condominiums.
“Where space is a premium on luxury residential pools – a moving floor is an obvious feature to include,” says Jack Harding, who heads up the 45-strong Guncast team. “It is unusual these days to think of a commercial pool build without a moving floor because they offer huge diversity of use on space,” says Jack.
“Factor in a moving floor at a hotel design and you can have a wedding venue as well as a leisure pool. Add a moving floor to a public pool and you have a diving pool and a toddler pool at the flick of a switch.”
With its own in-house design team, Guncast know the value of being on board and part of the planning process, right from the start of the project, to have a hand in all specifications, including the structure and all routes from plant room to pool and environmental control.
“Pool design is getting more complicated – whether it is a commercial pool or a basement residential pool,” continues Jack. “The design is the thing that sets Guncast apart because Guncast oversees works from start to finish, offering a turnkey package that assures five star delivery and five star after-care support,” he adds. Guncast are selling the Spiral Lift system to the UK residential and commercial markets and across America, France with new territories are coming on board all the time.
Operations director, Katie Sullivan expands: “As opposed to other systems that simply float to the surface, the Spiral Lift twists with teeth that become incredibly strong as it pushes the floor up.
“The same system has been applied to theatres and collapsible, seating using tried and trusted materials that are suited to the water leisure environment.”
