Heatstar Duo In Charity Run

Mark Osman, left and David Hayes, right, took part in the BUPA Great South Run.

Well known to many in the pool trade Heatstar’s David Hayles and his colleague Mark Osman recently took part in a charity run to raise money for Leukemia and Lymphoma Research.

Having worked all week on environmental control units for pools the plucky pair of runners from Heatstar had no control over the environment at all during the race as they were buffeted by very strong winds.

They took part in the 10 mile BUPA Great South Run in Portsmouth, one of the biggest running events in the South with over 25,000 people taking part and attracting top international runners fighting for victory. In the end it was two of Kenya’s top runners Emmanuel Bett for the men and Florence Kiplagat for the ladies who defied the weather to take top honours. Bett won the race in 48.03 minutes.

Our two intrepid pool trade pounders finished well up the field of 25,000 runners at 7,768th for Mark and 12,810th for David. Their times were 1hr 35 and 1hr 50 respectively.

Congratulations are due to both of them as the Heatstar team raised an excellent £500 for their chosen charity and the event overall raised an outstanding £3m in total for charity.
