The UK Pool & Spa Expo was a worthwhile trip for a group of school fundraisers from Somerset, who were delighted to receive a donation of tiling materials from Laticrete UK for the refurbishment of their school pool.
The pool at Milborne Port Primary School in Somerset fell into a state of disrepair last year, following a sequence of botched jobs by local pool companies.
The entire roof of the pool building now needs to be re-constructed and the pool itself needs to be fully tiled and made safe for the youngsters to use.
The school’s fundraising team have worked tirelessly to raise enough money to get the pool refurbishment underway.
Over £18,000 has now been raised through auctions, collections, events and donations from local companies.
While visiting the Pool & Spa Expo to get ideas and advice, fundraiser Darren Bacon mentioned the project to Michael Hailwood at Laticrete UK, who, after hearing how badly the school had been let down by the pool industry in the past, offered to donate grout, tile adhesive and waterproof sealant to the worthy cause.
Darren Bacon comments: “At the moment the pool is an empty shell with no roof, but we’re hoping to have the pool up and running by May in time for the summer swimming lessons.
“There’s still a way to go in terms of fundraising and reaching our target, but the kind support offered by Laticrete has made a huge difference and take
