Peter Maxwell, BTU’s longest serving staff member officially retired last month following 34 years of unbroken service.
Peter had worked in the swimming pool and heating industries for 49 years, since leaving school in 1965 aged 16.
BTU formed a new swimming pool service company in 1974 and quickly established themselves locally so Peter joined them in January 1980 as an administration manager and sales assistant.
Peter recalls: “The sales side of the company enjoyed enormous growth over the next few years to quickly become a market leader in sales of spare parts for pool equipment including heating, and remains so today.
“I have made so many good friends in the industry over the last 34.5 years at BTU and have seen enormous changes in equipment technology and communication technology over those years too, and despite industry seasonality and some economic downturns, the industry goes from strength to strength and I wish all those involved every success in the future.”
Norman MacMillan, BTU managing director invited colleagues and clients to add their tributes to a remarkable career.
