Placing swimming pool safety at the top of its priority list, BRIO Group is passionate about providing expert knowledge and training for the water leisure industry.
Originally BRIO began as a provider of pool plant courses, fitness and aqua courses, under Byrne LTC. Last January saw a change of name to the BRIO group, offering not just a full range of unique and highly accredited pool plant training, but training in all aspects of the leisure industry including fitness, swimming as well as health and safety.
“Our aim is to ensure we all provide the highest standard of services and training to all our clients and future clients,” explains Aileen Byrne, managing director.
“We have a commitment to raising standards in the industry as often water quality and pool operations are not as up to date as they could be, and greater awareness is required to ensure plant operators, pool managers and centre managers are fully trained and compliant with latest industry guidelines.” Based in Northern Ireland, the company has recently begun to offer Suction Entrapment & Hair Entanglement Safety testing, with the aim of preventing serious injury and death from entrapment hazards in pools.
Says Aileen: “We have a core group of professionals, each an expert in the field, who offer consultancy services or training.
“We are currently working on a number of new qualifications to offer more insight to the current pool plant operating standards in various relevant sectors.” One of BRIO’s most recent landmarks was developing the Onsite Designated Supervisor Course (ODS), which is a two-day site specific practical plant room course, firstly accredited by PWTAG and recently accredited by IOSH.
“The ODS course has been so successful that it has taken off from the first few training courses and is already booked out until the end of February 2016,” says Aileen.
PLANT PROCEDURES
“The practical element of the training and the fact that it is provided onsite to the pool owner’s plant procedures, has been a huge success, with glowing reports and highly recommended by those that have already received the training.” BRIO’s client base extends from small independent leisure centres in both the private and public sector, right the way through to some of the major health club chains in the UK and Irish markets. In fact, two well-known UK leisure chains recently appointed BRIO as their training providers, and consultants for pool operations and safety advice.
Aileen concludes: “As we work with our current clients in ensuring they are operating their swimming pools to the best possible standards, we are also developing further relevant qualifications, and will continue to promote awareness of the need for safe and healthy pools, with excellent water quality.”
