Swimming pools have topped the list of lavish desires, with 74 per cent of Brits claiming that this would be their number one garden wish.
In a survey of 1,000 UK adults by garden furniture retailer Alfresia, nearly three-quarters confessed that they long for a swimming pool, while 67 per cent say they would like a water feature of some kind and a further 53 per cent dream of owning a hot tub.
Decking or patio areas also feature highly on wish lists (61 per cent), as do summer houses (24 per cent) and a BBQ and outdoor cooking areas (23 per cent). When asked about their reasons for choosing these features, respondents admitted to being inspired by television shows such as Big Brother – well known for its eccentrically designed gardens – and celebrities who often have gardens packed with luxurious features.
Craig Corbett of Alfresia comments: “The findings show that most of us aspire to have some element of water in our gardens, whether it’s in the form of a bubbling hot tub, or a tranquil and calming water feature. It’s great to see the fun and quirky features the British public choose when collating their garden bucket lists.”
