The Swimming Pool and Allied Trade Association (SPATA) and the British and Irish Hot Tub Association (BISHTA) joined together for the newly named British Pool & Hot Tub Awards in February, to celebrate the achievements of their member companies.
Held at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry and timed to coincide with the SPATEX swimming pool and hot tub exhibition, the awards showcased some outstanding examples of design, construction, installation and innovation. BISHTA currently represents over 100 specialist hot tub companies across the British Isles and SPATA represents in excess of 170 companies.
Chris Hayes, managing director of both BISHTA and SPATA commented: “We congratulate all the award winners this year. The outstanding quality of submissions has certainly created some stiff competition, making it a difficult job for the judges in determining who should receive what level of award.
“The high quality of the entries will aid us in showcasing what our members can do for their customers and why it is so important to choose a BISHTA or SPATA member to turn your dreams into reality”.
The XL team picked up three gold and two silver awards and after amassing the most points in this year’s contest, also won the Dick Millward Trophy for Pool Contactor of the Year. The team took gold in the Residential Pools up to £40,000 category, gold and silver in Residential Outdoor Pools £40,000 – £60,000 and gold and silver in the Residential Outdoor Pools £60,000 – £80,000 category.
Letts Swimming Pools of Suffolk took the top spot in both the Commercial Pools and Pool of the Year SPATA categories with a complex outdoor pool installation that incorporates a hidden underground plant room and sewn York edging stones. The judges remarked that with its complex landscaping, the pool reflects cutting edge design and installation.
