Stand-out images can make a huge difference to your UK Pool & Spa Award pool, spa and wellness competition entries. Some companies continue to hire professional photographers for the use of images, not just in competitions, but also for brochures, social media and on websites.
In truth, Smart phones have made it easier than ever to snap a potential award-winning pool or spa project. Whatever your camera of choice, be brave enough to try different angles. For instance, lie on your stomach to get deck level views or use props such as poolside flora and fauna to give the shot extra depth – no pun intended.
There are noticeably more drone shots appearing as overviews in the UK Pool & Spa Awards competition entries but – a top tip here – the voting jury would love to see more pictures of people enjoying the water leisure facilities you have created. What about using the latest phones and cameras to shoot some angles under-water or, where appropriate, include as plant room shot.
“Switched-on companies will take every opportunity to snap pool and spa projects – with the owners’ permission,” points out Christina Connor, Managing Director of Waterland Media, the competition organiser. “Try a couple of test runs to check checking the resolution of images which needs to be emailed at least 450kb files each,” she advises and adds: “Don’t forget, with indoor pools or spa settings, make sure you set-up in plenty of time to allow your lenses to get used to the conditions and not steam up too much.”
Celebrating its 14th year, the 2024 UK Pool & Spa Awards looks set to top record entries this year. The red-carpet UK Pool & Spa Awards event will return for the third time to the prestigious National Conference Centre in Birmingham on Thursday December 5th.
