THE UK POOL & SPA AWARDS move to Birmingham’s National Conference Centre was extremely well received.

Retailers MySpa and spa suppliers Sunbeach Spas were the top winners in one of the biggest and best competitions in the 12-year history of the UK Pool & Spa Awards. MySpa scooped the title of Spa Retailer Of The Year and Sunbeach Spas were crowned Spa Supplier Of The Year at the presentation’s new venue, Birmingham’s National Conference Centre, held in December.

Established in 2009 by father and son Peter and Andrew Wroot, MySpa is a multi-award winning, hot tub business focusing on the installation, service, repair and maintenance of hot tubs and swim spas. The company’s flagship headquarters and original showroom is based just outside Leicester but the team has expanded its MySpa footprint to add showrooms in Derbyshire, Rutland and Cheshire.

Laura says: “MySpa was founded on good service work and this year we have also seen healthy growth in this sector of the business as well. This has always provided the foundation for us to operate and grow from over the years and provides the stability needed during quieter periods.

CUSTOMERS SPEAK
The UKPSA jury was bowled over by both the number and content of a huge number of testimonials in support of Sunbeach Spas as Spa Supplier Of The Year. Michael Priestly of Ambient Spas in Eccleston was a typical example: “Sunbeach Spas make us feel valued as a dealer, despite us not being as big as some of the dealers they have on the books.

We are often contacted to see how we are doing and if there is anything they can do to help us. We get excellent technical support and the knowledge of their products is amazing.” Halfway Hot Tubs in the South East agreed: “Sunbeach Spas are very attentive and have answered any and all questions and queries. We’ve had no issues with deliveries and there is always someone there if we need help.” “Sunbeach is a genuine business managed by sincere people from the top down,” enthused Sam from Birmingham-based, Bath Bliss.

“We can only speak highly of the team and their unbridled professionalism.” Midlands-based Arrow Spas pointed out: “The Sunbeach spa-ordering system is by far the best and simplest to use with detailed information about shipping, in factory, on sea and in stock.”

“I couldn’t recommend Sunbeach Spas highly enough to any other hot tub companies on the market looking for a high-quality product which comes with the highest level of service,” echoed Paul Woods, of Serenity Hot tubs in Northern Ireland.” The UK Pool & Spa Awards began 12 years ago as an opportunity to reward individual companies, regardless of trade affiliation, for outstanding achievements and together to promote best practise in the water leisure industry as a whole.

The contest adopts a three-tier judging process with on-line public votes and votes from specialist judges in each category before a jury takes on the toughest job of declaring bronze, silver and gold standards as well as overall winners.

Top performers in public votes for spa categories were:
• Hot Tubs Oxfordshire
• My Spa

All entries receive a winner, gold, silver or bronze standard based on the number of public votes, judges scores and jury deliberation. The event saw the biggest ever number of category winners in the spa product, project and business sections. Also, nearly 100 Gold Standards awarded across the hot tub sector from best product to top UK teams. Crucially, this provides the recipients with an outstanding promotional platform to highlight their business, products and services to existing and new customers alike.

“The judges and the competition jury were blown away not just by the number of entries but the quality of project delivery across the board,” reflects Christina Connor, Managing Director of Waterland Media, the competition organisers. “The projects that involved creating outdoor living spaces including landscaping, lighting and even entertainment space, were the ones that scored the highest marks,” she adds.

UNDERLINING THEIR POPULARITY, the team from Hot Tubs Oxfordshire attracted some of the competition’s top public votes.

“We were overwhelmed with the response this year and must single out the tremendous efforts of our sponsors, who make the whole event possible” The top performing brand on the night was Hydropool with their retailers scoring high praise in many categories and dominating the swim spa element of the competition. In particular, Hydropool Take Wellness shared the hotly contested title of Sunken or Semi- Sunken Hot Tub Project Of The Year. Hydropool’s London Essex Outdoor Living team were among the top winners of the night as overall winners of UK Showroom Of The Year.

GET SET FOR 2023

The UK Pool and Spa Awards would not be possible without the generous support of the event sponsors who are involved as category judges, the popular networking session and as part of the presentation team at the event.
By popular demand, the event will return to the National Conference Centre with the competition opening for entrants from May 2023.
