The new man at the helm of PPG UK & Ireland, David Sargentson has been involved in construction and water industries for more than 30 years. The newly appointed PPG General Manager began his working life with the RAF as an aircraft engine technician before progressing to British Aerospace’s Military Aircraft Division working in Saudi Arabia on the Tornado jet. David has since embarked on a technical sales career in the water utilities market, naturally moving into marketing and then business management.
“I was keen to join PPG and take the role of developing part of a successful and progressive company who are looking to grow and invest,” says David. “I am a great believer in the power of engagement amongst teams forging, business development, both from a customer and organisation perspective.
“PPG will remain intrinsically customer focused; keen to build on relationships and customer service.” David was quick to pay tribute to outgoing General Manager Peter Turnbull. “I would like to take the opportunity to personally thank Pete Turnbull for all his hard work and leadership over recent years and recognise his achievements in bringing the business to the success it enjoys today,” David says.
The majority of the trademark PPG training seminars have taken a back seat under Covid-19 restrictions. However, David emphasises: “We look forward to spending and investing more time with our customers again soon. In the meantime, we are supporting online and by phone, where appropriate.” Out of work, David continues his aquatic interests as a keen scuba diver – especially in warm, clear waters. David’s arrival coincides with the launch of the PPG 2021 catalogue updated with many new products for this season. Highlights in this year’s price list include the latest full inverter INVER X heat pump. PPG is attracting a strong following for its INVER X range; one of the most revolutionary heat pumps on the market, they say, combining silent operation with a powerful turbo performance. Says David: “It took more than five years to develop and optimise the INVER X heat pump revolutionary techniques, resulting in faster heating, electricity savings and much quieter running. “The patented Turbo Silence Tech® control perfectly balances the Inverter compressor control and heat exchanging technology,” adds David.
Part of the PPG family, 2021 sees developments across the Aquadeck pool cover range. “Aquadeck is passionate about swimming pools and sees a cover as the most defining part of any pool,” David says. “Aquadeck has been producing pool covers for more than 20 years and aims to create a ‘state of the art’ product that works flawlessly, saves costs and at the same time looks great,” he adds. The PPG team has a wealth of experience and knowledge and are now in a stage of repositioning to support growth. Two new posts will help the team extend its coverage across the UK and Ireland. David expands: “One of the first things that leaps out about PPG is its passion to offer full turnkey support from sales to training on a strong foundation of comprehensive technical knowledge and through long standing partnerships. “Driving success from developing sustainable solutions and innovation, our independence and international presence allows us to bring high quality products to our market. “We are proud to support the industry through working closely with, and in partnership with both our customers and our suppliers.
