With the arrival of autumn, the ISPE Council have been busy planning the next series of workshops and seminars. The 126th ISPE One-Day Seminar will take place in Weybridge, Surrey on Tuesday 18th October and following suggestions from seminar delegates, it has been decided to have a general theme for seminars, where possible, and the theme for this seminar will be under the broad subject of Heating.
Details are still being confirmed but it is hoped that the subjects of heat pumps, heat exchangers and air handling will all be covered. This seminar will also feature the inauguration of Jimmy Lamb, FISPE, as the new ISPE President and the 2022 ISPE Awards, where trophies will be awarded to some of the those who submitted outstanding ISPE exam papers earlier in the year. The 2022 ISPE Annual General Meeting will take place online on Thursday 20th October and full details will be sent to all paid-up ISPE Members and Fellows in due course
SAVING ENERGY
The 127th ISPE One-Day Seminar will take place in Clevedon, North Somerset on Tuesday 29th November on the broad subject of Saving Energy and Money. Again, plans are at an early stage but it is hoped to cover ways of saving your customers money in terms of reducing spa costs, the environmental impact of chemicals and reducing the costs of chemicals. More details soon.
The ISPE Filtration Workshop will take place on Wednesday November 8th at Plastipack’s premises courtesy of Peter Adlington, FISPE. The ISPE Filtration Workshop is extremely popular and is for a maximum of 16 delegates. The workshop is run by ISPE Fellows, Chris Carr and Philip Barlow assisted by Kim Mumford, MISPE. and gives basic training and guidance to new recruits and/or service personnel with limited experience of swimming pool filtration and servicing.
There is a mixture of activity during the day, from classroom-style PowerPoint presentations (such as pipework sizing and installation, sizing a pump and filter for both domestic and commercial pools, and installation and servicing tips) to hands-on activities where delegates have tuition in stripping down and re-building a pump and filter, and have a go at making a pipe-work test piece.
There is a short multiple-choice exam at the end of the day and certificates are sent out along with copies of all the presentations, shortly after the event. Refreshments are provided during the day which starts at around 9.00 am and concludes by about 4.00 pm. Detailed typical programmes will be sent on request.
Register your interest now by emailing the ISPE office (ross@ispe.co.uk) or telephoning 01603 499959 and your name will be placed on a list. As soon as everything is confirmed those on the list are contacted and if they are able to take up their place, an invoice is sent and their place is confirmed. ISPE members and students pay £65 and non-members £85.
