RECORD ISPE ATTENDANCE

THE AUTUMN ISPE seminar attracted the highest attendance in 12 years.

The 129th ISPE One-Day Seminar took place in October in Cobham, Surrey, and with just over 70 delegates, the event was the highest attendance at an ISPE Seminar since October 2005.

The theme of the event was Swimming Pool Construction Ian Betts, FISPE, from PoolConsult, introduced the day looking at the initial conversation between a pool builder and the client regarding the detailed requirements, and outlining what the pool company should inform the client of, regarding options, and the like.

Jon Herbert, MISPE, from Rockingham Pools, then gave an overview of how to carry our a pool installation using an in-situ welded lining membrane. Alex Kemsley, MISPE from Compass Pools, then talked about the site requirements and installation of a one-piece pool.

Ian then returned to explain the differences between the wet and dry mix for sprayed concrete and looked at the specification for rendering, tanking and the application of tiling. Later in the day, John Whiteside from Lighthouse Pools provided a construction guide for panel pool systems, and John Cheek, FISPE, from Hydrospec, looked at the commissioning and handover procedure and Operation and Maintenance manuals.
