Representatives from some of the UK’s leading pool companies gathered at the SCP UK headquarters, as part of the company’s dealer event and 2019 product showcase.
The SCP UK team opened its doors for three days to host the networking style event – in the trademark style of SCP, building on similar events previously that have been synonymous with SCP hospitality. “The purpose of the event was to reach out to our customers and give them the opportunity to view a selection of the products that we promote in the presence of the vendor. It was effectively a showcase of our key products,” explains Dash Ganeson, Managing Director of SCP UK.
“For our customers, it allowed them to discuss the products and effectively ‘ask the experts’. For our vendors, it gave them a chance to meet customers face to face and assist those customers in making the best choices.”
Vendors from across the globe attended the event, all eager to present their latest products. Among them was the team from AquaChek in the USA, who were on hand to demonstrate the benefits of their new Test & Treat Smart app for iPhones iPads and Android, which allows the pool water to be easily tested and treated at the click of a button.
Meanwhile, a representative from France-based Ondilo was able to offer technical advice on the company’s ICO device, which continuously analyses the water quality of a pool and notifies the user via its application. The device also provides recommendations so that the right products are used in the right proportions at the right time.
Water testing expertise also came from Matt Smith, Sales Manager at Lovibond Tintometer, who attended the event with a number of products on display, including the TB210IR turbidity meter, which is new to the leisure market, and the popular MD 110 Photometer.
“As this was the first SCP event like this I wasn’t really sure what to expect, but I’ve been very impressed with the format of the event and the number of visitors that have attended,” said Matt.Remy Bouchardy, Export Manager for Next Pool commented: “It’s been a successful few days for us with lots of interest in our products. I have enjoyed meeting SCP’s customers in an environment that allows us to discuss the products in detail and offer technical guidance.”
Austrian sauna manufacturers Sentiotec brought a wellness element to the event, with a number of models on display, including the bestselling Alaska model. While pool care products were covered by representatives of Lonza Fi-Clor and Lo-Chlor Chemicals. On the spa and hot tub side, products from Garden Leisure, Cove Spas and Beachcomber were displayed, as well as spa accessories from Life.
The three-day event also presented an ideal opportunity for the SCP UK team to reveal its brand new trade counter and display area to its valued customers. The trade counter acts as a shop front, and is an extension of the revamp that SCP UK undertook of its warehouse and distribution facility back in 2017. “We have a large warehouse space here – some 45,000 sq ft, but we felt that we needed to move things around to make the space more customer friendly,” says Dash. “The new trade counter offers a warm welcome and means that our customers are able to pop in a view a selection of our products on display, place orders, discuss products and ask technical questions.”
Commenting on the showcase event as a whole, Dash said: “The feedback from our customers was that it was the best event they had ever been to. For us it was a great success.” Looking to the year ahead, the SCP UK team are feeling optimistic and are confident that 2019 will be another successful year for the UK pool sector. “This year is looking good with order books filling up for pool builders and the maintenance market continues to remain strong. Despite the uncertainty of BREXIT, our industry outlook remains positive,” concludes Dash.
