Inspired by glamour and wellbeing, Dröm UK specialises in the design and installation of bespoke saunas, steam rooms, steam showers and other luxury thermal spa features.
The Surrey-based company was formed in 2002 by Kicki Carlsson and Barry Smith. Swedish-born Kicki grew up enjoying the benefits of sauna and steam bathing. Upon arrival in England, she was surprised at the lack of thermal bathing facilities available, so decided to start selling prefabricated rooms and hot tubs to enable more people to enjoy the wellbeing benefits in their own homes. Nowadays, the company has a dedicated team of 20 staff members â each one crucial in the day to day running of the company.
Headed up by CEO and financial director Kicki, Barry and Erin Lee oversee all the projects and the technical side of the business. As well as designing and installing luxury thermal wellbeing rooms, Dröm UK offers a consultancy service on all technical aspects and design elements for spa projects, a full project management programme and an after sales maintenance service. The team is currently working on properties in Highgate, Mayfair, Belgrave Square, Kensington, St. Georges Hill and Wentworth to name a few.
âOur clients are those who have visited health spas and enjoyed the experience of wellbeing found in thermal bathing and come away wanting the same experience in their own home,â says Kicki Carlsson. âOwners, developers and architects of high-end residential property also come to us to help design their bespoke leisure suites. We also work with exclusive, commercial spas.â
A major landmark moment for the business came in 2005, with a name change from Dream Leisure to Dröm UK. Kicki explains: âI thought a shorter name would work better as a brand and had always wanted to be able to use a Swedish word with Swedish characters. The word âdreamâ in Swedish is Dröm which incorporated everything – perfect! Hence the Dröm UK brand was born.â
Another landmark was the grand opening of the refurbished showroom in 2012, as part of Dröm UKâs ten year anniversary celebrations. The one of a kind showroom has various room sets and wellness areas to show how the products can be adapted to traditional or contemporary environments.
Kicki comments: âThe showroom has proved invaluable to the many architects and designers we have welcomed here since the opening and we encourage them to bring their clients with them where possible as we have such a vast array of finishes, tiles and accessories on display for them to consider when designing their space.â
She adds: âWe are currently looking for bigger premises so that we can continue to grow the company and extend our showroom and warehousing capabilities. We are also continuing to develop our international markets in Europe and the Middle East.â
