This luxury one-piece pool project was named overall winner in the Residential Outdoor Pool of the Year category at the 2016 UK Pool & Spa Awards. HTP worked with Czech-based pool manufacturer, Niveko, to create the one-piece outdoor pool at a property in the Midlands. HTP’s brief was to provide a one piece custom-built with an integral hot tub. The pool was to look as natural as possible so that it blended into the surroundings. For this reason, a grey pool was specified to as it take the blue colour out of the water.
Lewis Salvidge of HTP explains: “We fulfilled the brief by working closely with our Niveko team on building a one piece pool that combined a hot tub with unique Evolution Overflow and structure made of Polystone material that is resistant to all chemicals and totally homogenous. “Access to the site was restricted for the lorry and crane,” reveals Lewis. “We had bridges to cross that were weight limited so extra precautions were taken.
It was a full contract lift that required a range of method statements and risk assessments.” The pool has below ground plant and technology with fully integrated automatic dosing and an interface control with auto backwashing using Besgo valves. below ground plant room and technology. “The client was very specific in the brief and we knew from our meetings what the exact requirements should be which eliminated a lot of design changes.”
The actual installation was carried out with a 100 tonne crane and was completed on the first day. The pool was also filled with water later that day. Once positioned, all pipework was connected to the balance tanks and the plant room. Then came the construction of a shutter wall to form the concrete backfill. A Niveko pool is a concrete pool with a permanent internal structure made of Polystone material that is resistant to all chemicals and totally homogenous.
