Family-run Newson Swimming Pools specialise in all aspects of pool construction and maintenance from servicing and refurbishment to the installation of pools, spas, saunas and steam rooms.
The Norwich-based company operate across Norfolk and East Anglia, and offer a comprehensive range of products and services for the domestic and commercial markets.
Shaun Newson, managing director explains: “Our permanent goal is to provide a first class service to all our existing and new customers – the type of service that we would expect ourselves. Understanding our customers’ requirements and fulfilling them to the best of our ability is our top priority.
“As a family business we try to provide the personal touch and go that extra mile for our customers. In most cases we are on first name terms with our clients,” he adds. “As the leisure industry is a forever changing market we pride ourselves on the ability to follow suit and educating our staff to achieve a satisfactory working environment,” adds Shaun.
The New Year has already got off to a flying start for Newson Swimming Pools, with many new projects already underway. Shaun explains: “We are currently completing a new build contract for a hydrotherapy pool at a special needs school in Norfolk and we will shortly be installing a new tiled commercial spa at a leisure complex on the North Norfolk coast. In the spring we will also be working on a new private indoor swimming pool with tiled spa and steam room, so it’s been a busy start to the year so far.”
Shaun founded the company in 1987, having worked at a swimming pool company with his father after leaving school.
“After completing a four year engineering apprenticeship I took the plunge and started Newson Swimming Pools, slowly building up my workload with family members helping me on the way. Over the years we have expanded and have increased our showroom floor area by threefold,” explains Shaun.
Shaun is now joined by his wife Maxine, the finance director, and son Matt, a service technician, as well as a team of dedicated service and administration staff for the day to day running of the business.
“My biggest influence in helping me get to where I am today must be my father, who sadly passed away last year. He was the old school type of engineer, who many times helped resolve a problem by his good old fashioned never give up attitude,” reveals Shaun.
“In terms of how our industry stands in the economic climate, we have weathered well. Mainly due to the fact that we diversify into several different categories and are able to maintain a good works program.”
