California dreaming was the inspiration behind this mosaic tiled concrete pool by Florida Pools and Spas.
Working closely with the architect and the client, Jersey-based Florida Pools’ in-house design team was able to ensure the finished look was in line with the client’s vision of a sleek and modern centrepiece for the outdoor area.
“A vital part of the brief for this project was the use of highly energy efficient and environmentally friendly products,” explains Gary Hotton, managing director of Florida Pools.
“To achieve this, items such as the Alligator purification unit and thermal insulation to envelop the whole pool, were installed. In addition, we specified an Aquamatic safety cover which operates as a debris cover, heat retention cover, thermal cover and an important safety cover.”
The pool’s contemporary appearance is enhanced by the poolside patio. For this, Florida Pools selected a grey silver granite paving intersected with black slate and garden paving. The unique tiled band design around the water line was requested by the client and was custom laid by Florida Pools’ in-house tilers who cut each of the different coloured tiles into strips by hand and then laid them individually. The pool’s entry steps span the complete width of the pool and are also made up of a dual colour tile design.
“The client also requested the supply and installation of a counter swim jet system. This was specified at the same end of the pool as the cover pit so a bespoke jet suction return system was plumbed, connected to dedicated jet pumps,” says Gary.
He adds: “Restricted access to the site made this project a challenge, however I am pleased to report that it was completed on time and surpassed the client’s expectations.”
