The London Swimming Pool Company scored a major publicity coup when one of its outdoor pools was featured in a recent Daily Mail article.
The feature focused on the positives of investing in home swimming pools giving advice on types of builds and costs of installation, and a link to SPATA for local swimming pool contacts.

The featured project was one of London Swimming Pool Company’s standout outdoor Berndorf Bäderbau stainless steel pool installations was completed last summer – replacing and old liner pool at a home in Surrey. LSPC opted for an AstralPool Viron E320 variable speed pump and 750 AstralPool Atlas filter that runs on Dryden Aqua’s Activated Filter Media (AFM).
The Daily Mail has a circulation in excess of 1.2 million. The feature went on to talk about other home wellness investments and the subsequent value of projects like home gyms and tennis courts.
“In my experience, the value that fitness facilities add to a home is dependent upon their condition and proximity to the property,’ Richard Jones, partner at estate agent Jackson-Stops in Northampton, told the newspaper.
“For example, indoor pools that are integral to a property, are well-presented and have up-to-date heating and
humidity systems can add real value — as much as 5 per cent.

“Unrenovated outdoor pools, some distance from the property, don’t tend to have a significant impact, but, in some cases, they can actually make a house less ‘saleable’ and decrease its value.
“Many buyers are deterred by the prospect of spending money on refurbishing a pool and so, upon purchase, will fill it in completely.” The article, published in May, in the property section, and available on-line, urged readers to swim to stay trim. Advice included checking with local authority on whether planning permission is required. Potential home pool owners were encouraged to consider the position of the pool that, in the wrong place, could be ‘an eyesore’ while a pool that dominates a small garden is generally a mistake. The feature went on to quote an above-ground swimming pool as being obtainable from about £1,500, saying the cheapest in-ground outdoor designs start at around £5,000 for a self-build kit with a vinyl liner. Having a pool installed will cost from £20,000, it continued, putting annual running costs, for a 24ft x 12ft outdoor pool, at an average of about £2,000.
