Spaeuro has undertaken a strategic overhaul of its UK and European business, a move that coincides with new ownership of the British spa parts suppliers. From now on, the South Wales based distributors will be playing to its strengths, focusing on two main product specialisms; filter cartridges and replacement spa covers. The new owner of Spaeuro is Peter Hogg of New Zealand- based Magnum Filters.

SCP UK is embarking on a new chapter in the history of the company with the appointment of Dash Ganeson as Managing Director. Dash, originally, from Kuala Lumpur, came to the UK as a teenager to pursue his studies and completed his professional exams to qualify as a Chartered Accountant in 1987. His subsequent career has spanned a global framework and includes postings in London as well as abroad in Asia and the Middle East.

When he passed away in 2001, a 22-year-old Gemma Sage was left to run Servochem, the specialist cleaning chemical business her father had built before his untimely death. “He was leaving me as a very young managing director, but he had the confidence in me to run the company on a day-to-day basis” says Gemma. “I was determined to give it my best shot by maintaining the foundations of the company of providing good quality products and an excellent service with the support of our very loyal team,“ she adds.
After 36 years of dedicated service, Certikin’s Chairman, Patrick Thorpe, is retiring from the business. The son of a Kentish coal miner, Patrick, 64, has been a key fi gure in steering Certikin’s growth from a modest, though signifi cant, UK distributor to a major part of Fluidra, one of the world’s largest multi-national companies. Patrick joined Certikin in 1972 as Financial Controller when it was owned by Brian Stannah, of Stannah stair lift fame and Bob Kent who was Managing Director.
