FOREST BATHING

THE PROJECT HAS WON MULTIPLE AWARDS INCLUDING THE GOOD SPA GUIDE, 5 BUBBLES RATING AND GOOD SPA GUIDE AWARD FOR BEST SPA DESIGN.

Barr and Wray adopted a Japanese influence on the refurbishment of Center Parcs’ Nottingham Forest Aqua Sana… Taking their inspiration from Shinrin-Yoki, the Japanese wellness trend of forest bathing, Barr and Wray took on the refurbishment of Center Parcs’ Aqua Sana at Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire.
Outdoor areas and walkways allow guests to reap the benefits of being amongst trees, while the treetop sauna, sitting 10m high in the forest, is one a kind and offers a truly magnificent experience for Sherwood visitors.
The new Forest Spa concept brings together the best of Aqua Sana, making the most of the natural surroundings, bringing the outside in and creates an area that reflects seasons and forests from around the world.
The project brief was to create highly innovative, new thermal and wet facilities for each themed spa zone that would be used throughout the Aqua Sana’s of each Centre Parcs Spa in the UK and Ireland.
Working with Sparc Studio and Spa interior B+W were delighted to be involved in the design, supply and install of all the new thermal and wet experiences that delivered 25 spa experiences.
The six new spa zones range from a fiery volcanic sauna, a forest glade steam room with cool mist experience, walk through experience shower zones and an invigorating Nordic ice cave using artificial ice rock walls and a central ice fountain.

SPA ZONES
The project budget was £750k to which we went slightly over due to testing of new materials that we had never worked with before. The project was a learning curve for all involved.
To date, the Project has won multiple awards including the good spa guide, 5 bubbles rating and Good Spa Guide award for Best Spa Design as well as top placing in the UK Pool & Spa Awards.
