The Vale Resort in Hensol, south Wales, has scooped a top industry award for its leisure division at the annual 59 Club Service Excellence Awards. The Vale’s leisure offering includes a full range of gym facilities, squash and tennis courts, a 20m swimming pool as well as more than 50 led fitness classes per week. The independent 4-star Vale Resort includes a 143-bedroom hotel, 700-seat conference facility, restaurants & champagne bar, award-winning golf courses and a five-bubble spa. The venue’s leisure membership sales team picked up the award for its approach to customer service during the sales process during 2012.
In order to judge the winners, Club 59 carried out a number of mystery shopping visits at the Vale Resort to benchmark its services and offering against fellow Club 59 members, which include The Belfry, the De Vere and Marriot Hotel Groups, the Celtic Manor Resort and Wentworth to name a few. Paul Beddoe, sales and marketing director of the Vale Resort, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have beaten off some stiff competition from some of the UK’s best leisure resorts to be presented with this prestigious award. “Our leisure membership sales team work hard throughout the year to offer a professional service by providing exacting levels of customer care, and to be recognised in this way by the industry’s major benchmarking organisation is a real honour. This award really is a tribute to the team’s dedicated efforts.” As well as winning them an award, it has also helped them grow membership in a tough economic climate, with it increasing approximately 10% per cent from April to December 2012.
