The much-anticipated UK Pool & Spa Expo got off to a flying start at the NEC Birmingham opening a new chapter on a book that looks set to be a best seller for the UK water leisure sectors.
Stephen Crabb, of Catalina Spas, was honoured with a special achievement award, one of the highlights of the recent British and Irish Spa and Hot Tub Association (BISHTA) Awards.
Already weakened by the combined impacts of the economy and the weather, the spa sector is facing its severest challenge yet, warns Stephen Weller, one of the founder members of the UK and European spa trade. “The spa and swimspa market is saturated with the industry currently out-performing double glazing and time share sellers in questionable sales techniques and dubious claims,” says Stephen. “The internet is expensive for legitimate companies while used by the worst rogue traders and this will not change while major consumer shows, in the past enjoyed by many companies, are now a sales monopoly for one supplier,” Stephen continues.
Hosting one of the biggest corporate events of its kind for many years, AquaFinesse UK recently welcomed a group of over 100
new and potential dealers for a weekend of work, rest and play in rural Wales.
Over 300 guests from 13 countries were invited to Bayrol’s home city to experience Bavarian hospitality and to discover the city of Munich and its surrounding area.
Heavenly Bavaria was the theme for the Bayrol customer event, which took place from October 2 – 4.
