Holiday park operators, health club venues and hotel leisure facilities are missing out on potentially huge savings on running their swimming pools, at a time when environmentally-friendly solutions has never been more affordable, warn Calorex Heat Pumps, the UK’s leading water leisure energy efficiency specialists. Calorex advises that pool operators, who have not switched to energy efficient heat pump based systems, could be missing out on reduced energy bills of up to 50 per cent and a reduction in carbon emission by up to 70 per cent. What is more, the initial capital investment on energy efficient heat pumps is no longer an obstacle. The Calorex leasing scheme not only enables payments to be spread but practically negates leasing payments by virtue of the cost savings benefit, ie, payments can often be tailored to equal the monthly run cost savings, therefore making the lease purchase scheme a win win situation. The scheme is suitable for all kinds of operators including Local Authorities, Charitable Trusts and Sole Traders.
Leading UK manufacturers and specialists in their field for more than 35 years, Calorex Heat Pumps launched its leasing scheme two years ago to enable more commercial venues to cut costs and carbon emissions. The company report that water leisure venues are lagging behind other commercial sectors like manufacturing and warehouse storage, that spreads the cost of investing in environmentally friendly heat pumps. Calorex Managing Director Richard Carrington explains: “The financial options of the leasing scheme offer real benefits for commercial clients, ensuring a simple and quick means to equipment purchases. “Because leasing spreads the cost of purchase, people may now be able to afford more than they previously thought, potentially giving them access to more efficient equipment,” he added. Benefitting from tax advantages, such as tax relief of 22% or greater, the attractive finance option delivers a cost-effective vehicle for the purchase of Heat Pumps and Heat Recovery Dehumidifier operating systems that are the best option for swimming pools. In fact, all payments are 100% allowable against tax and with banks continually reducing overdrafts and loans, leasing is often considered the most efficient way to acquire new equipment.
Purchases are spread over three or five years, effectively maintaining cash flow within the business. Payments are fixed from day one for the life of the term, combating any future interest rate rises and simplifying budget control. Carrington explains: “Leasing often provides you with finance for the total cost of a project including installation, training and other associated costs or for the purchase of a number of pieces of equipment. Agreements can have equal repayments throughout the term with no requirement for large up front deposits that affect cash flow.” Typically, for every unit of power that a Calorex heat pump consumes, it will convert three times this amount to useable heat. The potential energy savings are huge. In fact, compared to traditional heat and ventilation energy, cost savings of over 50% are achievable while corresponding CO2 emissions can be dramatically reduced by up to 70%.
POST INSTALLATION
Independent monitoring of an indoor public swimming pool before and after the installation of a Calorex Heat Recovery Dehumidifier unit has indicated post installation savings of 49% and in doing so carbon emissions have been cut by almost 40%. Whilst these figures are impressive, it is worth noting that these savings were achieved during a very cold winter. This translates to less than half of the equivalent cost if run on a Desiccant AHU, 37% less than if run on a Recuperator AHU and a whopping 66% less than that run on a full Fresh Air system. Comparable reductions in CO2 and Climate Change Levy show savings of 42% on a Recuperator AHU; 58% against a Desiccant AHU and a staggering 70% improvement on the figures of a Full Fresh Air system. Calorex offers a huge choice of British-built heat pumps and dehumidifiers to cater for all water leisure requirements. These include the Calorex Pro-Pac commercial heat pumps that are specifically designed to economically provide hot water to high activity and larger pools such as those in camp sites, leisure parks, hotels etc. When the same units are compared with fossil fuel boilers the Calorex models save 34% on operating costs and up to 50% on carbon saving.
