Dartmouth Golf & Country Club’s £850,000 investment in a new spa has paid immediate dividends with the West Country resort reporting a 71 per cent increase in revenue compared to 2013. The popular resort has been inundated with enquiries from people eager to experience the new facilities since opening in the spring, with a further 23 per cent rise in walk-in customers for the new swimming pool.

After more than four decades in the industry David Mathers, former chairman of the company, has retired from SCP UK.
One of the highest profile figures in the pool and spa sectors, David’s highly successful career in the pool industry began 40 years ago with Crystal Pools in Leatherhead — still flourishing today and now owned by his former manager, Peter Solley and his family.
SCP UK is embarking on a new chapter in the history of the company with the appointment of Dash Ganeson as Managing Director. Dash, originally, from Kuala Lumpur, came to the UK as a teenager to pursue his studies and completed his professional exams to qualify as a Chartered Accountant in 1987. His subsequent career has spanned a global framework and includes postings in London as well as abroad in Asia and the Middle East.
It is with great sadness that Pool & Spa Scene magazine reports the death of Ray Burt on Sunday April 28. He was 63.

One in three children is leaving primary
school unable to swim, according to a report
by the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA).
Of those who cannot swim, nearly two
fifths (39%) have never been offered lessons
at school.
Following conflicting claims, the Swimming Pool and Allied Trade Association has confirmed a joint statement with seven of the drought-affected water authorities, confirming the original legislation that you can fill up a newly constructed swimming pool with a hosepipe and top-up an existing swimming pool with a hand held device such as a bucket.
