Following the PWTAG AGM, Mike Shuff has been appointed Chair, with Simon Whittingham taking on the role of Vice Chair. Mike brings extensive experience in leisure-sector training and professional development. Simon has more than 30 years’ experience in swimming pool filtration and water treatment and will continue as Chair of the PWTAG Industry Forum. PWTAG also thanks outgoing Chair Ian Ogilvie for his valuable contribution.
A simpler application process, online payment and revised fees have contributed to a welcome increase in PWTAG membership. The new International Membership category is also extending PWTAG’s reach, with members joining from around the world. Further benefits are being developed to help members remain informed, connected and supported.
Meanwhile, in a landmark move, K Leisure Naas and K Leisure Athy have become the first local authority swimming pools in Ireland to achieve PWTAG PoolMark accreditation.
The award independently recognises the high standards of operation, water quality, safety and management at both facilities. PWTAG Chair Mike Shuff described the achievement as a reflection of the expertise, dedication and professionalism of both teams.
The PWTAG Annual Conference returns to Holywell Park, Loughborough, on Thursday November 5. This year’s programme will cover a range of current industry topics, including outdoor pools and lidos, sustainability, water efficiency, infection control and water quality, ice baths and cold pools, PoolMark and involuntary submersion systems.
PWTAG’s recent Expert Webinar saw Simon Whittingham share practical guidance on swimming pool sand filter refurbishment. The session covered common warning signs and followed the refurbishment process through to safely returning the filter to operation.
