The biggest ever choice of liner and on-site swimming pool options are now available…

Whether triggered by the need for repair work, a desire for a more modern design appeal – or both – refurbishment will continue to play a major UK wet leisure role in 2025. Key to that work, will be the liner or on-site lining system, the skin sealing the body of the swimming pool tank.
With every project adding significant revenue, never has the UK trade seen such a broad spectrum of choice when it comes to lining options. Gone are the days when anything out of the ordinary was deemed impossible. Supplying the swimming pool trade for many years, when it comes to liners, Aquaflex can produce the most complex designs.
In particular, Aquaflex has pioneered the incorporation of lined steps into pre-tailored liners. The benefits are enormous, for both renovating old pools and incorporating into new pool builds where a less expensive option than a fibreglass or acrylic step is needed. Matching the colour of the liner to the colour of the step ceases to be a problem.
Almost any size and shape of step can be lined in this way, so long as clear and accurate drawings are supplied. The only stipulation is that there must be an absolute minimum of 6” (0.15m) of water covering the top step to prevent movement of the liner. Aquaflex is known for associating itself only with the highest quality names and products to deliver the best results possible in performance and after sales service.

In 1993 Aquaflex made the decision to ‘brand’ every pre-tailored pool liner with a unique code. This code can be found centrally on the deep end wall just below the bead fixing. This unique code gives the pool trade the hassle-free option of contacting Aquflex for the cost of a replacement. No measuring is required if the liner has a code.
Aquaflex will have the manufacturing records on file to make a replacement. The only information required afterwards is the colour/pattern choice of the new liner. Aquaflex is growing all the time, especially its site lining side where they are doing more and more varied shapes and sizes of pools, reservoirs, lakes and the like.

EMBOSSED TEXTURE
The new 3D range this season is available in Granite Grey and Black Slate, both featuring a realistic embossed texture for a sophisticated, high-end look. Fraser McCallough, Plastica’s Business Development Director, shares: “Our bag liners have an unbeatable reputation for their exceptional fit and consistent quality. “We’re excited to continue working closely with our dedicated pool trade accounts this season and beyond and to show our commitment, training courses will be offered in 2025”
Like all Plastica liners, these new additions are built with enhanced chemical resistance and industry-leading UV protection, designed for pool water temperatures up to 29°C. The 3D liners are anti-slip certified and produced with a 37-thou thickness ensuring safety and performance.
Every liner is custom-made in Plastica’s UK-based facility and backed by a five-year pro-rata warranty and all enriched with algaecide for longevity. Patterned liners receive an extra protective lacquer coating, preserving their vibrant colours and extending their lifespan, and to prevent waterline staining.
Additionally, Plastica offers a variety of beading colours, extruded in house, to perfectly complement any liner selection. Manufactured in the UK’s largest and most respected swimming pool production facility, Plastica liners are a hallmark of exceptional quality. Their advanced capabilities include welding bespoke designs like internal steps, ensuring truly customised solutions.
Every liner comes with a unique serial number, directly linked to its order, simplifying future replacements and ensuring a seamless re-fitting process. Ocea UK has thrown its significant hat into the liner ring with the launch of a new catalogue featuring the French-made DEL range of bag liners, tile-bands, fastenings and accessories.

A fully customisable liner is now available thanks to its wide range of colour combinations, at the same time checking compatibility of material and tile bands. Ocea’s ID liner service sets the Ocea UK range apart with its easy to follow, step-by-step simple ordering system that is packed with hints, tips, advice and support.
“Ocea customers can match a variety of liner colours for the wall, the pool bottom the stairs and risers,” says Ocea UK’s Ellie Thorne. “You can therefore offer your customers a bespoke opportunity to customise their pool and steps,” she explains. Stand-out DEL features include the PROTECT 33 LINER that boasts of meeting every demanding set of specifications.
Its specific formulation requires a selection of pigments which guarantees a high resistance to discolouration. The PVC resin has been selected to limit the liner’s absorption of water and the formation of creases. Matt acrylic protection varnish protects against stations. The Protect 33 liner chemical composition protects the liner from stains and algae and meets the requirement of EN 71-3 standard.
The Ocea UK team is confident its DEL Evolution liner range will become the new market standard. The Evolution liner incorporates 100% phthalate-free plasticisers. Meanwhile, the Tradition, as a leading market favourite, offers perfect dimensional stability with a recommended maximum temperature tolerance of up to 28deg C.
Ellie adds: “Our easy ordering system takes the stress off the pool builder because specialist software guides through the key questions to ensure they choose the right measurements, first time, every time – always remembering the golden rule to visit site yourself and never assume a customer has the measurements right.”

One of the UK’s leading liner supplier, Certikin offers the most comprehensive portfolio of stylish, high quality, durable options, and the line-up continues to expand. Drawing from the extensive portfolios of two main suppliers: Renolit and CGT, Certikin offers customers an unrivalled range of colours and patterns. 2025 see the introduction of new materials from both suppliers.
The Aquadecor series from CGT is a collection of exceptional printed pool liner material which are inspired by the latest décor trends and styles. There are three new ranges from Renolit adding to the extensive number of materials already available from Certikin. Designed to simulate large format tiles, the Tiled range is the ultimate expression of elegance combining both design and functionality.
The Alive range is available in three colours, each allowing you to transform the garden landscape into a picturesque oasis. Finally, the Renolit Relief range is available in eight different unicolour textured designs. This multi-purpose, slip-resistant and lacquered membrane will match any architectural design for new pools or renovations.
“Whether it’s a factory made ‘bag’ liner, or a heavy-duty site applied liner, the range and quality of swimming pool vinyl linings has come on in leaps and bounds in recent years,” says Certikin Product Manager, Scott Gowan. “The strength and durability of pool vinyl has increased enormously, thanks to the application of improved protective lacquers which, when combined with high quality inks and colourings, improves stain and abrasion resistance, reduces plasticiser migration and helps combat UV degradation.”

CLASSIC CHOICE
There’s now a huge variety in styles and patterns. The traditional classics have been joined by liners featuring impressive SPATEX performance. vibrant colours, photographic printing, metallic, pearlescent finishes, and engraved finishes that offer a natural stone look. The finished look can be unique, classical, dramatic, or plain and simple.
Each can be combined with a contrasting or complementary anti-slip material for steps and slopes (many of which are an exact match to the main pool pattern). The site-applied lining option is increasingly popular with domestic owners due to its durability.
Certikin’s Infinite On-site Lining range uses a 1.5mm – 2mm three ply product compared to the traditional single ply 0.75mm vinyl used for factory made liners. The service is quick and efficient – taking around four working days for an average sized domestic hopper pool with steps and there is no curing or standing period.
It’s suitable for both new and old pools of domestic and commercial size and can accommodate complex shapes, steps, ledges, and pits. The longevity of the product, when compared to thinner linings or paints, is a major advantage, particularly for commercial pools. It comes with a 15-year pro rata warranty, but the life expectancy can be double this in a well-maintained pool.
Scott adds: “On-site lining is generally quick, and it also means that the pool trader can continue working on other projects whilst we are working on their behalf.” Unlike their bag liners, the EXTREME Pool Lining System can be installed all year-round, offering a durable and cost-effective solution for both new and existing pools.

With over 35 years of onsite lining expertise, Plastica has been delivering high-performance pool solutions since 1988. The EXTREME system is perfect for commercial applications thanks to its exceptional temperature tolerance. It’s tough, hard-wearing design also makes it ideal for holiday parks and high-traffic pools.
Most of the range is slip-resistant, but non slip material is available for steps and shallow areas (7 plain colours available). Installed by Plastica’s fully trained, in-house specialists, EXTREME liners are crafted from 1.5mm-2mm thick flexible reinforced PVC, tailored and cut on-site to ensure a precise fit. Take a look at the new patterns introduced to Plastica’s 2025 range, offering even more stylish and long-lasting options.
For independent installations, Extreme material is also available to order by the roll. Aquaflex carries out the major proportion of the Alkorplan installations in the UK and will only consider using the tried and tested Alkorplan material. Says Brad Armstrong, Aquaflex Sales Director: “In our opinion Alkorplan material is the best pool lining system on the market with the highest reputation throughout Europe and beyond.
“Alkorplan is the perfect way to renovate old leaking tiled or painted concrete pools. It is very easy to clean and maintain,” Brad continues. “An Alkorplan swimming pool can increase the value of a property. By being adaptable to the most complicated shapes, the prospective pool owner is free to select the type of swimming pool which is most suited to the contours and layout of his or her garden and the architectural style of the house.”
