Thanks to the Wimbledon Tennis Championships, SW19 is a sought-after location and an increasingly popular place for people to live and for businesses to locate and invest. Wimbledonâs Centre Court Shopping Centre has recently been rebranded as part of a cutting-edge regeneration, transforming the area into a vibrant neighbourhood hub.
The new Centre known now as Wimbledon Quarter, contains exciting new spaces to shop, eat, train, work, and more. Essex-based Aquascapes was honoured to be part of the regeneration process, designing and constructing the world-class wellness sanctuary owned by Third Space, where historically the Debenhams store was sited until January 2020.
Third Space Wimbledon opened to the public in December 2023, offering 42,000sqft of âfitness and wellnessâ space. The dynamic design aspired to create a space that features multi-purpose studios, a 25m x 8m Swimming Pool, a 10m x 4m hydrotherapy pool, a 2m diameter cold plunge pool, Finnish Sauna, Loyly Sauna, steam room, heated Loungers and experience showers.
Aquaspaces were tasked with the design of a bespoke, luxurious and unique pool hall. The Aquascapes team of dedicated professional swimming pool design consultants are especially adept in all wet leisure consultation, installation, maintenance and repair areas.
FOCAL POINT
Established over 20 years ago by Sean Connelly, Aquascapes has evolved into a leading swimming pool design consultancy and construction company in the country. Whilst every care is taken to exquisitely furnish the surroundings, Aquascapes first focused on the large expanse of the ceiling â an area they find, is often overlooked.
Instead of neglecting this area, Aquascapes turned a potential negative into a positive, choosing to make the ceiling an impressive and captivating focal point. Due to environmental constraints, considerations of its own.
Aquascapesâ undertaking involved the intuitive design, sourcing, fabrication and installation of multiple non-corrosive stainless steel 316 marine grade sheets, ingeniously cut and intricately folded to create a breath-taking configuration of seamless, architectural elegance. Inconspicuous to visitors, the ceiling is suspended with over 1000 concealed hangers.
Alongside its practicality, the ceiling expertly refracts light around the pool hall, creating a scintillating oasis of tranquillity. The owners invested in a state-of-the-art SwimEye drowning and prevention system which Aquascapes are sole UK suppliers and distributors of. The AI based drowning detection and prevention system can identify swimmers in distress and raise an alarm to alert lifeguards. Judges in the UK Pool & Spa Awards heaped praise on this Aquascapes project earning a Gold Standard in a highly competitive category of Health & Wellness Projects in the 2024 competition.
