For the charismatic head of Surrey-based Tanby Pools, Martin Borley, taking on the role of BSPF President, was always a question of destiny. Established in 1966 by Martin’s father Fred, Tanby Pools was one of the founder members of the Swimming Pool and Allied Trade Association (SPATA)* and have been involved ever since. “It is so important that we follow on from the success of our Olympic and Paralympic swimmers who set the Gold standard at London 2012,” says Martin. “That is exactly how I see SPATA and BISHTA – setting the standard for pool and spa installation and retailing,” says Martin. “There are a number of well-established and reputable pool companies, building quality pools, who should be members and it is my goal to make SPATA and BISHTA membership more appealing,” Martin adds. “It is also about sharing knowledge and giving back a little, which I believe everyone should do.
