New is the theme for SPATEX 2014 as the event organisers ring the changes with a number of novel features.
The event is moving from Brighton to a new venue at the Jaguar Exhibition Hall at Coventry’s Ricoh Arena in the Midlands. The organisers promise the new central location will help attract a greater number of visitors with pre-registration at an all time high.
As a direct result of customer feedback, SPATEX has increased the number of workshops run by the Institute of Swimming Pool Engineers. The organisers have promised a minimum of 15 new sessions included in a total of 25 presentations scheduled to take place over the three days of the exhibition.
Two special sessions have been confirmed which will be of particular interest to visitors: One will look at the new electrical requirements for pools, spas and saunas and another will discuss the types of insurance a pool company should consider.
One of the most well-received workshops at SPATEX 2013 was that given by the world’s leading expert in cryptosporidium detection, Dr Rachel Chalmers, and she’s returning to give two more workshops at SPATEX 2014.
Tuesday February 4th is Leisure Operators’ Day and the workshops will be aimed specifically at pool operators (leisure clubs, health clubs, holiday parks and hotels etc.
WORKSHOPS
There will be a number of sessions on the Sunday and Monday aimed at this sector too. Most people who work in the pool industry are involved with water testing to varying degrees so a there’s a number of sessions looking at different aspects of water treatment, including testing and pool water management.
Organiser Michele Bridle says: “During its 18 years, SPATEX has developed a finely-tuned appreciation for what the industry is looking for in an exhibition.
“In essence, we will continue to do what we do best, by representing the whole pool and spa industry; incorporating the needs of both domestic and commercial sectors and including big name international and UK businesse,” she said and promised: “But into that recipe we are introducing some exciting new elements.”
The SPATEX Casino Experience is another new innovation to be held on Monday February 3. All visitors and exhibitors are welcome to attend the evening that offers live entertainment, a la carte or buffet menus in the on-site casino.
