Summit Leisure recently provided a retractable enclosure over a new surf simulator attraction at the Woolacombe Bay Holiday Park in Devon. The enclosure was essential for the park operators to reap the full benefit of their investment as they wanted to be sure of being able to offer holiday makers the maximum use of facilities for as much of the year as possible, regardless of weather. The glass structure had to be retractable so that surfers were outdoor for most of the season. The building would be used as a closed unit in the quieter cooler months and of course also guarantee use if the summer weather proved poor there was plenty of room around the unit for spectators during the warmer months.. Comfortably Installed within a ten-day window on site, the design of the enclosure had to be sufficiently high to suit its purpose which meant, on an exposed sight with prevailing high winds, the Summit team had to take great care to ensure the strength and stability of the structure while retaining ease of use .
