Entries to the 2024 UK Pool & Spa Awards will open online, via the website, on May 1st and as another well-known catch phrase declares: “You have to be in it, to win it!” It is not vanity but sanity that is the main reason for getting involved in the sector’s leading awards. Winning a business accreditation is an amazing achievement and can put you significantly ahead of competitors when it comes to bids and tenders.
“The UK Pool & Spa Awards are one of the most cost-effective marketing initiatives your business will invest in, year-on-year,” comments Christina Connor, Managing Director of Waterland Media, the competition organisers. “It is a great way to boost your business so don’t miss out and start collecting key ingredients for your entries straight away.” The majority of contestants in the UK Pool & Spa Awards are small to medium-sized businesses.
“We can get so caught up in the day to day running of our business but stepping away from the coalface and taking time to consider award entries will actually gift you the time and space to evaluate business achievements and even help with future planning,” says Christina. “In most cases, we hear, winning an award gives you a deeper appreciation for your achievements, spot scope for improvements and act on opportunities and threats,” she adds.
Don’t assume the judges and jury know how fantastic your project or business is. Christina emphasises: “Remind the judges why a project stands out from the crowd. Tell the judges why construction methods have been chosen and finishing touches made, as they are your main selling points.” The sector’s leading competition includes categories across residential and commercial swimming pools, spas, swim spas and wellness and also business achievement for companies and individuals.
Christina again: “Don’t be backward with adding reviews and testimonials – because if someone outside the business has been prepared to say how great you are, then use it!” Each award is judged individually by a group of more than 20 specialist judges as well as going to the public vote and ultimately to the jury for final accreditation.
“We would always recommend that businesses tackle each award entry independently – and not just put in a blanket entry,” Christina continues. “Each entry criteria needs to be evaluated and matched against your individual and company attributes and boldly displayed on the entry form.”
Now in its 14th year competition is principally an aesthetic competition, so take time to invest in the best quality of photograph to show off credentials. Each entry is judged as being bronze, silver or gold standard as well as overall champion in each category which means, in effect, every entrant is a winner.
