Operating on a ‘work family’ basis, Golden Coast strives to create an environment where people ‘want’ to come to work. The UK distributor team, part of the PPG group, is made up of 38 GC family members, 21 males and 17 females with three women and two men making up the management level.
“At Golden Coast, we always want to develop our staff,” comments GC General Manager, Adam Clark. “If an individual feels progression, they feel positive,” Adam points out. “If they feel positive, they deliver a positive experience to our customers.”
Based in Devon, GC is one of the UK’s biggest investors in staff training; not just in products or processes knowledge but in personal development too. Putting that ethic into practice, Sales Manager Luke has just completed an enhanced management and leadership course while Olivia has just done her final exam for her AAT level 2 accountancy course.
Sam, GC’s Purchasing Manager is about to start her higher-level procurement course, Technical Manager Kristy has begun her higher management course while Hazel, GC’s internal support Team Leader is about to start her CMI Diploma in management and leadership. Emma Robinson first joined the company in 2008 as a Secretary and Purchasing Assistant.
She was promoted to Office Manager as part of a restructure and is now relishing her new role as Operations Manager about to undertake occupational safety and health and storage courses. “No two days are the same,” Emma shares. “From working on our ecommerce site to organising our next stock take, this is a dynamic role where you are always looking for ways to improve; challenging what we do and how we do it.
By undertaking a complete reorganisation of our warehouse, implementing new digital picking and goods in processes and restructuring the team, we are now seeing a vast improvement across our key performance indicators. “The best thing about being part of the Golden Coast family is the people,” says Emma.
“There is a genuine passion, drive and enthusiasm for our business and the industry. “I want to keep learning and developing my skills as we implement software enhancements to improve the efficiency of sales order processing and our GC transport service,” she added.
Adam says: “At Golden Coast, we all have an energy, passion and drive to deliver the best. “In life, the feeling of development and progression is such a positive feeling,” he continues. “I constantly want to invest in to develop my team. We want to be the best in the industry, providing the best customer experience.”
