A six pool, multi-million project by Aqua Platinum Projects…
A gold award winning project in the recent UK Pool & Spa Awards, The Aqua Club is a new £10 million swimming and wellness space, part of the luxury Headland Hotel. Set on an iconic clifftop overlooking Cornwall’s stunning Fistral Beach, near Newquay, Headland’s Aqua Club boasts no less than six gunite sprayed concrete pools.
The team from Aqua Platinum Projects was tasked with the design and build incorporating the gorgeous Cornish views throughout the design including a wavy™ wall in the lap pool and a beautiful, hybrid, heated edge pool that circles the sunset spa pool that frames the idyllic waterfront. “We had been working on this project with the client for over four years,” explains APP’s Alicia Turner-Sales. “At the beginning of the project, the design was very different to what it is now.
“Working closely with architects, Lilly Lewarne, APP were able to design and build diverse facilities within the Aqua Club exceeding our clients’ expectations.” Alicia adds: “The feedback from visitors at The Aqua Club have been exceptional and we are so proud to be a part of this project.” The Aqua Club has three indoor pools. Those looking to improve their fitness can swim lengths in the 25-metre training pool.
The indoor vitality pool boasts jets, air pads and water mushroom, a traditional sauna with a curved glass front, outdoor vitality pool and sunset spa pool. There is also a dedicated children’s pool, which, to cater for younger visitors, is shallower than the other indoor pools and provides plenty of space to splash around. Outside on the sun terrace, there is a heated sunset spa encircled by an edge pool, which is perfect for taking in views of the Atlantic Ocean, whilst being perfectly sheltered from any wind.
